Federal Government is the Largest Business In The World

Last week I was approached by a company who wanted to get into the Federal Market but didn’t know why.  Well, I told him the Federal Government seems to be one of the only stables businesses out here, and they pay on time if you do your paperwork right. The Federal Government is the Worlds Largest Business who buys everything and anything, from pens, rockets, wheels, cars, pants, food, IT, and service just to name a couple.

From what I know if you are a Federal Employee you were under paid while contractors were making the big bucks in the past, but you had great benefits and job security. From what is told to me a Federal Employee can not be fired. Well the contracts got hard to find, but the Federal Employees have those bi-weekly checks while some of us, well it just could be better. It is better now and if you don’t split your business between government and non-government this is a mistake.

Then there are these Golden Contracts out for bid and grants, the real grants from www.grants.gov . Please let me remind you Grants are FREE but Grant Writing isn’t and many of those Grant Companies are just going to www.grants.gov and charging you to find these grants, but it is a business.

So my suggestion is split your business to half government and half other.

Just my 2 cents for today.

Business Grant Frauds

SBA and Grants.gov

SBA and Grants.gov

I have been warning people of this for months and months, these people who email you about Free Grants and Free Investors, only then asking for money or your social security numbers and bank information.

I have client after client paying or giving out information which they shouldn’t. Just because someone has a website doesn’t mean anything!!!

An Angel investor will NEVER want a fee, I can send you a true list of Angel Investors if you would like.

They will want a REAL and properly written Business Plan, if they say they don’t need one, RUN AWAY. Would you give money to someone just to be nice? I had a client yell at me, saying they found an investor who had so much money they just didn’t care, surprise this client’s bank account and pay pal was invaded by thieves. He told me I didn’t understand the way business works, people sometimes have more money and they just give it out, then he yelled at me for not believing him, and fired me. I just found out he not only lost everything but now is in debt and lost his home.

Here is the newest warning from the SBA:

SBA Warns of Fraudulent Attempts to Obtain Bank Account Information from Small Businesses

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration issued a scam alert today to small businesses, warning them not to respond to letters falsely claiming to have been sent by the SBA asking for bank account information in order to qualify them for federal tax rebates.

The fraudulent letters were sent out with what appears to be an SBA letterhead to small businesses across the country, advising recipients that they may be eligible for a tax rebate under the Economic Stimulus Act, and that SBA is assessing their eligibility for such a rebate. The letter asks the small business to provide the name of its bank and account number.

These letters have not been sent by or authorized by the SBA, and all small businesses are strongly advised not to respond to them.

The scheme is similar in many ways to e-mail scams often referred to as “phishing” that seek personal data and financial account information that enables another party to access and individual’s bank accounts or to engage in identity theft.

The SBA is working with the SBA Office of Inspector General to investigate this matter. The Office of Inspector General asks that anyone who receives such a letter report it to the OIG Fraud Line at 1 (800) 767-0385, or e-mail at OIGHotline@sba.gov.

Seeking New Projects

Finding new projects that are good paying projects have been hard to find, many new businesses, but no $$$$

This past month has had some great projects, Love my Green Sports Grille, and I am looking for new Green Technology.

Spent yesterday with a friend and his green restaurant, wow, he was amazing.

Hating MN and this cold! Wow, how do the people here stay here year after year, finding a project in FL or a warm state is a goal of mine!!!

Going to New Orleans to see about a project,  but I think it’s not in my area, but love the project managers and would like to learn about what they are doing.

Todays Business

Today’s Business Ethics

I am glad this is a start of a new month!

Business has been hard for everyone but this past month is filled with issues.

I really work hard with my clients and partners, but it amazes me that people this day can just be pigs.

I don’t even know where to begin, one client/partner after over a year of contacts and final agreement, which sucked on my side, but I was willing to prove my skill sets, well this project after I fired them by email sent this letter to my project, this was after requesting from the them what their requirements would be, meeting them time after time, then they asked the client for $35,000.00 Travel money, wow, taking the entire state of MN??? This is the letter they sent to the client, after all they were terminated.

“I am the Senior Project Manager / Estimator in $&#($&, Minnesota.

We have been approached by (ME!!!)  whom claims to be representing your company to build your new 50,000 sq ft sports bar in Maryland. (Little FYI, I am the director of this project)

I am inquiring about her legitimacy with this project and her affiliation with you.

She claims to have hired *$&%HH the architect for this project.  Meetings were arranged with *#&%#(the architect) and (ME!!!)—only to be canceled at the last minute. (NO, you were told you were no longer a part of this project and NEVER invited to this meeting, stating they needed plans which is what an architect does).

Could you shed some light on her relationship with you? (The owner of this project wanted to shed light to him,,,, but they lost the project and no it’s pretty much none of this companies business).

I would appreciate it if you could give me a call or respond to me with a e-mail.”

Well boys and girls, a bad day and it’s done and life goes on. It’s unbelievable that one would write something like this and my lawyer says let’s talk on Monday. I love lawyers!!!

Then just last week, was hired by another company, did a ton of work for them, when pay day came around, what a surprise, they wanted me to write a grant for my check, well… that would be good, if we had talked about it before I was hired,  and did all that work, I am tired of working for free and paying my partners.

People come up with more reasons not to do things, but I keep my word and get the job done.

To my good clients, I just think you’re the best!!!! Just have to dump the bad ones, like the one who told me to write a business plan, with 4 lines of documents he sent me, he told me to read between the lines, “What Lines???”

I am done whining and venting.
